Personal Injury Attorneys Proudly Serving the Village of Flossmoor

Located in Cook County, just 24 miles south of the Chicago Loop, the town of Flossmoor owes its existence to the Illinois Central Railroad. The railroad purchased nearly 160 acres of land in Flossmoor in 1893. The land was to be stripped and the soil used in the World Columbian Exposition. However, the soil was unusable as filler and the railroad was set to sell the property. But when a group of investors looking to build a south suburban gold course in the area, they asked the railroad to extend its line further to accommodate the location of the new course, The Homewood Country Club.

The railroad agreed and soon after came other similar country clubs like Olympia Fields sprouting up throughout the south Chicago suburbs.  The community got its name from a contest Illinois Central held to to name the town. The village of Flossmoor was incorporated in 1924 with a population of 265. Today, with a population of more than 9,000 at the turn of the most recent century, some of its most notable citizens have included Xavier Fulton, tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
